Spirited
Shirland win fantastic encounter
Shirland
Miners Welfare 2 Hilcote United 0
Home
scorers:- Hegarty, Brown
Hilcote travelled to
Stonebroom to take on in-form Shirland Miners Welfare in a must win game
for both teams.
Right
from the start you could see that both teams were ready to battle for every
ball and fight for three points, the midfield battle was clearly the key
to which team was going to win this match and for most of this game they
both matched each other ball for ball.
Shirland's
first goal came from Dale Hegarty in the first half taking his tally to
six goals in four games, the second goal came from Oliver Brown with a fantastic
strike to make the score 2-0.
Shirland
hit the bar twice in the first half and Hilcote hit the post in the second
half, both teams went forward every time they won the ball and both
teams defendered very well.
The
spirit of the Shirland players and the concentration in nearly every moment
of the game was fantastic. Our play was sharp in every movement, both when
we had the ball and when we didn't.
It
has to be said that Hilcote United were very good in this game and I can
see them going all the way this season and winning something come the end
of the year whether it's the league or one of the cups we will have to wait
and see.
With
Shirland missing key players for their next game against Black Hippo on
Saturday, manager Dave Thurnham has a chance to rotate his squad and give
other players a chance. So good luck to the lads for Saturday's game and
let's try and make it 5 games from 5!!

Lions impressive in Harveys derby
Darley
Dale Lions 3 Harveys F.C. 0
Home
scorers:- Allsop, Baker, Keeton
Darley Dale Lions looked
impressive during the local derby with Harveys F.C.
The
visitors found it hard to get going in the first 20 minutes and were punished
from a good strike from Matt Allsop.
Harveys
then got themselves into the game but were unable to find the net. Darleys
back five look in good form at the minute and with Harveys trying a long
ball were never going to beat Webster and Whitworth who were strong throughout.
After
the break Harveys started with a little more intent but as in the first
couldn't find an opening. Darley then introduced Baker who made Harveys
suffer by adding to the soreline with some tidy footwork.
It
was finally completed with a well-deserved goal from Man of the Match Liam
Keeton whose hard work throughout the game put Darley on top of theÊleague
going into the weekend.
Harveys'
plus side out the game was once again Jay Roose in goal who stopped a number
of shots and earning him Anthony Wood Builders Man of the Match for Harveys.
