Football Forum so far...

Great to see the Matlock and District has come to life and set up a website!!! Keep up the good work Drew!

All Ican say is that from watching Hilcote from the sidelines yesterday they already demonstrate how good a team they are. From top goals to amazing passing. They have really shown a close nit team that battles on and on dispite the score.
With excellent shows of defence from a young lad named Ant. A cracking goal from Ryan Pepper, who is on track to retain his top scorer trophy from last season. Also 2 new players for Hilcote really stood out to me, Shane and Danny Ryan.
I wish Hilcote all the best for this season as they truly deserve at least 1 trophy. Maybe even the league if they carry on how they are going!

As a new team in the league this year I would just like to take the time to say what a good standard of refereeing there is in this league. We have already this season come across two young referees who have been very professional in both of our games.
I'd just like to say this game needs more lads to take this unthankful task on, I've had to referee before and wouldn't like to do it every week.
To add to this I think teams need to learn the new respect campain and follow it, these guys give their time to come and don't deserve abuse or being threatened if things aren't going your teams way!!!

My predictions are Matlock Youth, Darley Dale or Shirland to be crowned champions but Hilcote will upset a lot of teams and have an excellent central midfielder called Gibbo. Players to watch out for are Wood (Matlock), Gibson (Hilcote), Heggy (Shirland), Hursthouse (Shirland) both strikers, Bott (Lea-Holloway), Merret (Kings) if still there and Gugala (Riddings) the Polish international. That's what I've seen already this year anyway. anyone else have opinions of other players from other teams to watch out for ?

I'm all for opinions, and I am reluctant to put any up without people identifying themselves. However, I'll make an exception for 'From the sidelines' as the person has kicked off debate.
My real point is, be positive. New teams into the League are welcomed and should be encouraged. If we can get a few more then there can be two divisions which will help encourage grassroots football and improve our game locally!

After watching the game yesterday I'm concerned for the future of Bakewell, they only turned up with 11 and were completely out played and this seems to be a reoccurring situation for them, I think Riddings have more chance of winning the league than them fulfilling their fixtures and that's never going to happen lol. What does anyone else think?

After five games I thought Hilcote Utd were very good and I think they will do more this season than just suprise a few people. They have a fantastic group of players.
Regarding Riddings Rovers I am led to believe that they have alot of injuries so far, so don't write them off, they will come strong.
We have not played darley dale or Matlock Youth yet but they are always strong.
My tips this season for silverwear (league/cups) are between; Darley Dale, Matlock Youth, Hicote Utd, Shirland Miners Welfare but Harveys could pull of a shock cup win as their form looks good.
   What do you guys think?!
