The Len Land Premier
Cup was donated to the Matlock & District Football League in 1991 to
be played for as the Championship Trophy.
Len,
who was a co-founder member of AFC Lea Holloway 1960, is a former chairman
of our League. The much-respected Len retained his interest and was always
willing to have a chat about old times if you bumped into him in Holloway.
Indeed,
he was delight that the trophy was still being used and his family were
touched to see the trophy with coloured ribbons adorning it shortly after
his death and before it was presented to Shirland Miners Welfare in 2009-2012
winners.
League
chairman Drew Robertson, a friend of Len's, presented the Champions Cup
to Shirland after their 3-3 draw against nearest rivals Darley Dale Lions.
