WEL-FARE
DOS! Shirland
Miners Welfare lifted the Cavendish Cup with a 9-0 drumming of Haveys Bar
at South Normanton Athletic's ground on May Day Monday. Goals from Richard
Harrison, man-of-the-match Steven Wright (2), Dale Hegarty (4), Gareth Brown
and Ian Hursthouse earned a well-deserved victory from a team under enormous
fixture and injury pressure. Congratulations to Dave Thurnham (pictured
with the Cavendish Cup) and his dedicated team, including the backroom staff,
for winning this coveted 105-year-old trophy.

Referee
Malc Whittaker, who officiated over the Cavendish Cup Final, collected the
Stuart Baker Shield as Referee of the Year while Holloway's Shaun Bott won
the Player of the Year award. Both were presented before the game and extremely
well-deserved, providing great role models.

Praise
for Black Hippo Sporting endeavour is always to be applauded and Black
Hippo deserve great credit for their season despite 22 league defeats, the
last on Saturday away 6-5 against Tibshelf Community.
Hippo's Josh Dakin commented: "We've improve over the
season but due to lack of players and no manager we couldn't scrape a win.
We have shown we have potential and will give 110% to get points on the
board next season."
Meanwhile,
Hippo have started their search
for a new manager to help consolidate their club and focus on a real push
for progress next season. Contact Josh Dakin on 07738 121855 or via e-mail
